Polegate Calendar 2013

Polegate calendar photographic competition 2013

For the third year running, I am inviting local photographers to submit up to four Polegate-themed photographs for inclusion in My 2013 calendar in aid of St Wilfrid's Hospice. Details can bee seen on the Polegate Town Council website.

The success of the “Polegate and local village Calendar 2012” has led Dan Dunbar to open the competition up again to all local residents for the third year running. Residents have the chance to showcase their work in a calendar, which will then be available in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice. “This is a chance for local people to use photography to show what living and working in Polegate means to them”.

Residents are being asked to submit photographs taken from in and around Polegate. That include buildings, scenery, local events and positive aspects of living and working in the area. Judges will be looking rural and urban landscapes and will also look for a creative approach and good technical ability.

Dan Dunbar, competition organiser said: “After the success with this years calendar raising £1,500 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. I want the community to get involved to achieve another great calendar for a great charity. “ I want local people to use photography to capture well know local views from a new angle, to show Polegate and the local from a new and interesting viewpoint.

The competition is open to all local residents who have until midday Friday 19th October to enter their four images into the competition. Calendars will than be available from the St Wilfrid’s Hospice charity shop Polegate along with other Polegate shops from late November."

'Working Smoke Allamas' wow the crowds at Eastbourne’s Sunshine Carnival Parade

The famous mischievous puppet called Emu has a new rival in town in the form of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s very own 'Working Smoke Allamas'.
Meet ESFRS’s newest recruits - the loveable “working smoke allamas” who enjoyed their first shift out-and-about at Eastbourne’s Sunshine Carnival Parade.
However, unlike Emu these enchanting allamas don’t attack members of the public and have nothing but love and advice to give to the public.
Photographer: Dan Dunbar
Community Safety Advisor Kate Graham not only came up with the idea but designed and created the two furry characters. Their new home will be Eastbourne Community Fire Station with the specific role of spreading the word about the all-important message that ‘working smoke alarms save lives’.
